Why lock your price

Heating oil prices change every day.

Locking in protects you from the worst of it.

A typical winter price chart.

Over the last five seasons, the spread between the lowest and highest market price inside a single winter has averaged more than 35 percent. The biggest spikes hit during the coldest weeks, when you are using the most fuel.

Customers on locked plans pay the same rate from August through April, no matter what the market does.

1

Avoid winter spikes

A polar vortex week can push prices up 20 cents per gallon in a few days. Lock-in customers pay their locked rate. Everyone else pays the market.

2

Predictable budgeting

Same monthly bill from August through May. Heating becomes a planned expense like your mortgage, not a winter surprise that shows up in February.

Peace of mind

Stop watching the news every cold snap. Once you lock, the rate is set. Pair with Automatic Delivery and you stop thinking about heating oil entirely.

Quick questions.

Are these prices locked when I enroll?
Yes. Once you complete enrollment, your locked or capped rate is set for the season through April 30. Final per-gallon price is confirmed at enrollment based on the current market.
What if I use more oil than I estimated?
Any deliveries above your locked or capped volume bill at the current market rate. The estimator above defaults to 800 gallons. A 2,500 sq ft home in Bucks or Montgomery County typically uses 700 to 1,000 gallons. Older or larger homes use more.
When does enrollment open?
Enrollment opens August 1 each year and runs through the heating season. Earlier is usually cheaper because locked rates are priced against summer market levels.
Do I have to be on Automatic Delivery?
No, but they pair well. Price protection sets your rate for the season. Automatic Delivery makes sure your tank gets filled at the right time so you get the benefit of that rate. Most enrolled customers use both.
Can I switch plans next year?
Yes. Each season is its own enrollment. Pick a different plan every August if you want.
How do I actually enroll?
Use the calculator above to confirm your numbers, then click Continue with This Plan. From the plan you pick, click Continue to Customer Portal and you will be taken to myfuelaccount.com/foxfuel to register or log in. Or call us at (215) 659-1616 and we will walk you through it.
